Stop Littering Reasons

I wrote 5 reasons on why people should stop littering for my persuasive speech.

First I needed to pick one of the topics from my traffic light topics. I chose the topic Stop littering. I chose that topic because if we stopped littering then it would help the world.

Next I thought of some reasons why people should litter. my reasons were: if you could recycle it could be turned into a product, When you litter the chemicals could get into the water then get in human food and poison us, When you litter it could fly into the ocean and sit there while animals eat it, If we kept recycling then the world would look better and more clean, litter can cause serious consequences for the environment like: pollute the air, kill animals, and it could even start acid rain. My favourite reason is litter can cause serious consequences for the environment like: pollute the air, kill animals, and it could even start acid rain.

Finally I had to find websites to back up all of my reasons. I found some websites to back up all five of my reasons. I also found a video to help persuade people.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt alot of reasons why you should not litter.

Traffic Light Topics

I thought of some ideas to use in a persuasive speech and colour coded them.

First I watched 2 videos that said that to persuade you need to brainstorm and plan ideas. When you brainstorm you need to come up with some ideas of what you want to persuade. planning is when you pick your topic and write what you want to say when you are persuading.

Next I brainstormed some ideas that I could use to persuade someone under the categories I chose. The three categories I chose were personal, sports team , and world. I brainstormed 13 ideas.

Last I colour coded all of my ideas into the colours red, yellow, and green. Red means stop, don't proceed, yellow means slow down, and green means proceed. The colour I used the most was green.

I enjoyed colour coding all of my ideas that I brainstormed.

Explanation

I learnt how to write a hook in an introduction.

First Mr Ogilvie showed us a video explaining what an introduction contains.

Next, we wrote an introduction and a hook about three different topics. Did you know that the largest firework display ever consisted of 810, 904 fireworks? A firework consists of gunpowder a fuse and potassium nitrate. When these three mechanisms come together they create a colorful explosion in the air.

Then we wrote an introduction about the life cycle of a butterfly. Did you know that there are almost 20,000 butterfly species? The mother butterfly lays eggs and they turn into caterpillars and makes a crysais and then turns into a butterfly. it takes 9-14 days for a caterpillar to turn into a butterfly.

Then we had to write a introduction about how chocolate is made. Did you know that chocolate is made by coca powder? First dried coca beacs will be roasted also heat blend food coloring sugar and flouring. When the chocolate is ade they will wrap it in paper.

Next time I write an introduction I should to try to add more information.

Cause And Effect

I wrote cause and effect sentences about the life cycle of a butterfly.

First I had to put an explanation of a butterfly's life cycle back togeather.

Next I had to write a cause and effect sentence of the butterflys eggs (stage 1.)

Then I had to write a cause and effect sentence about the catapillar (stage 2.)

Then I had to write a cause and effect sentence about the catapillars chrysalis (stage 3.)

Lastly I had to write about the chrysalis turning into a butterfly (stage 4.)

I think that it is interesting wen the catapillar makes a chrysalis and it turns into  a butterfly.

Cause and Effect

Cause and effect can help with writing sentences within the mechinisims structure of an explanaion.

A cause is why something happens. A effect is what happens. For example A rainbow appears in the sky when sunlight passes through raindrops.

Casual language are words that link with cause and effect sentances. For example: because, when, in order to, therefore. For example: It was cold SO she turned the heater on.

Explination

 I learnt how to write an explination report and the struture.

First I learnt what an explination is. An explanation is to understand a process.

Then I learnt the structure of an explanation report. the structure of a explanation is TIMES.

I think that explanations are quite tricky to write and to remember the structure.

America's Cup

 I did an America's Cup activity with my group. 

 First, I read three texts and took all the main ideas and sorted them into the groups: Who? What? Where? When? Why? Then I had to watch videos to get more information and more ideas to put them on the slide.

After I got all of the main ideas I had to choose 20 words then take out the 6 most important ones. After I did that I had to make a summary using the 6 most important words that I chose.

Then I had to copy and paste the summary onto my evaluating slide under, What is the America's Cup about? Then I had to put in facts that I learnt then ask questions about the America's Cup.

This activity helped me learn more facts about the America's Cup. I hope New Zealand wins next year. 

 

Handwriting

Today I did some handwriting.

I did the whole alphabet lower case and upper case.

I need to try and make my handwriting tidier by slowing down.

I learnt how to write my letters from Aa to Zz as well as my special characters and numbers.

Look Down!

 Look Down

Problem- Parker & Cameron were eating lunch on the plane wing.

Solution- they got in the plane and grabbed a parachute.

I was as scared as a chicken. Hi my name is Parker, one day I was eating lunch with my brother Cameron on a plane wing from Canada to New York. We didn’t know when the plane was taking off so we just sat there and ate our yummy lunch packed with sandwiches.But while we were eating our sandwiches the plane started to move. We didn’t know what to do so we just sat there scared and hoping that someone would see us and tell the person flying the plane to stop so we could get down and wait till we got to New York inside the plane.But the plane didn’t stop. It kept going and going until it got in the air.

Then we were flying with the plane. We could see everything. It was beautiful, but sooo scary. Then our faces were in the clouds. It felt weird to be this high but I liked it. Then my brother Cameron’s hat fell off, and it flew in the wind,but Cameron's hair was a mess. Then his hair was flowing in the wind. He said it felt amazing so I took my hat off to,and my hair was flowing in the wind just like Cameron’s. A few hours later I was tired so Cameron said that he would hold me while 

I slept so that I wouldn’t fall off and hurt myself if I fell on to the ground. So I went to sleep trusting Cameron.I thought it was really risky but when I woke up I was alive! I thought Cameron was going to get tired and fall asleep too, and then we would both fall off the plane wing and hurt ourself. A few more hours later Cameron got tired so we did the same thing except that I was holding onto Cameron while he was asleep. But I got tired of holding him and then Cameron started to slide off the plane wing. I HAD to think of something FAST before Cameron fell off and hurt himself. So I did something VERY risky, I took off my jumper and tied our hands together tightly, then I knocked on the closest window and… someone opened it! Yay we were saved but the person who opened the window was our mum. She said “what are you two doing on the plane wing” so I said “this is not the time to explain, can you just pull me and my brother up please”. So our mum grabbed my hand and pulled us both in the plane with her. Then we told her everything that happened.

After explaining everything to our mum. She said that when we got home we had to explain everything to our dad.Then we heard an announcement, it said “Hello everyone.We will be landing shortly, but we have some bad news… WE ARE CRASHING INTO THE AIRPORT. No need to panic though, we have it all under control.” Then the plane started to fall faster. Then another announcement came up and it said. “OK YOU CAN PANIC NOW.” Then everyone started looking for parachutes, so me Cameron and Mum started to look for a parachute too. Then we noticed that there were three parachutes under our seats, so we all shouted “HEY EVERYONE, THERE ARE PARACHUTES UNDER THE CHAIRS!” 

 Then we each grabbed a parachute and opened the plane door. I was almost about to hit the ground so I pulled the little tad and my parachute went up.After I got to the ground I looked up and saw all the colourful parachutes carry people to the ground safely. Then I saw my brother Cameron and our mum start to fly down.

After everyone was on the ground we all went inside the airport and saw a sign that said if you were flying on plane 6000 canadian airline to New York, then they would give you 1000 dollars back because the plane crashed, so we got our money back. Then our mum went and rented a hotel room for us to stay in for a few days.

It was VERY scary on the plane wing. At least we didn’t fall off and hurt ourselves. Our mum said that she didn’t notice we were gone because she was really tired and went to sleep. Then she heard us knock on the plane window. At least we weren’t on the plane wing when the plane was about to crash. We probably would have ended up in the hospital.
