SSR Selfie

I read half of the book from Kristy's Big Day by Gale Gulligan and Ann M, Martins.

So far Kristy's mum is getting married to someone else and they are trying to sell their house before the wedding, someone wanted to buy the house but they can't sell it yet because they have nowhere to stay.

I think that they should try to sell the house to someone else or tell them that they can't move houses  yet.

Art

I created a 3D volcano design.

First I made lots of 3D paper cubes.

Next I stuck all of the 3D paper cubes togeather to create a volcano desing.

Lastly I painted the 3D volcano desing gray, and adden some red and orange lava.

I enjoyed this activity because I like to be creative and make things.

Emoji Story

Today I completed a Literacy task called emoji story.

First I chose a story to retell using emoji's.

Next I found some emoji's that could retell my story.

Lastly I put all of the emoji's in order togeather to retell my story.

I enjoyed this activity because I was able to choose and story and be creative using emoji's.

Can you figure out what the story is?

SSR Selfie

I read the middle half of the book from Dawn and the Impossibe Three by Gale Gulligan and Ann M, Martins.

So far Dawn is babysitting the Barretts but she has already worked 4 days a week and missed a BSC meeting and hasn't noticed.

I think that Dawn should talk to Mrs. Barrett because she is babysitting too much for her and she is also missing BSC meetings.

SSR Selfie

I read half the book of Dawn and the Impossible Three, by Gale Galligan, and Raina Telgemeier.

This story is about when dawn was babysitting her friends siblings and wanted her to be an official member of the Bsc so she wanted her friend to babysit with her and show her all of her babysitting skills,

I like Mallory because she really wants to be an official member of the Bsc so she helped Dawn babysit her little siblings.

SSR Selfie

I read the whole book of Karen's Roller Skates by Ann M. Martin and Katy Farina.

This story is about when Karen was roller skating but she broke her arm and did some crazy things!

I like Karen because I think that she was very brave by going to the "Witches" house, and getting her autograph.

Stop Littering Reasons

I wrote 5 reasons on why people should stop littering for my persuasive speech.

First I needed to pick one of the topics from my traffic light topics. I chose the topic Stop littering. I chose that topic because if we stopped littering then it would help the world.

Next I thought of some reasons why people should litter. my reasons were: if you could recycle it could be turned into a product, When you litter the chemicals could get into the water then get in human food and poison us, When you litter it could fly into the ocean and sit there while animals eat it, If we kept recycling then the world would look better and more clean, litter can cause serious consequences for the environment like: pollute the air, kill animals, and it could even start acid rain. My favourite reason is litter can cause serious consequences for the environment like: pollute the air, kill animals, and it could even start acid rain.

Finally I had to find websites to back up all of my reasons. I found some websites to back up all five of my reasons. I also found a video to help persuade people.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt alot of reasons why you should not litter.

Pointless, Painful, Physical Education

I made a synthesis egg and a QAR template about a text called Pointless, Painful, Physical Education.

First I made Synthesis egg template where I wrote my prior knowlegde, my new information, and my new understandings. Prior knowledge is somthing that I already know, new information is something new that you learnt, and new understandings is what you unerstand now.

After that I answered questions and put them under one of the catagories called: right there, think and search, author and me, and on my own.

Right there is when you can just point to the answer. Think an search is when the answer is in the text but you need to think and search for it. Author and me is when the answer is not in the text, but you have to have use the information that the author has wrote to get the answer. On my own is when you can just go up to someone and ask them a question, and they will give an answer.

Water Safety W3

I went back to the pools to do water safety for Week 3.

First I learnt how to do side arm strokes. To do side arm stroke I learnt how to float on my side. Then I learnt how to move my arms and legs in and out.

Next I learnt how to spin like a seal on a diving board. To spin like a seal I sat on the diving board, got off the platform, and started spinning. I spun for a long time but then I fell off the board after some time.

Last I learnt how to spin on my back while doing front armstrokes. First I had to do normal armstrokes. Then I had to Flip on my back, breath, and turn around and do front arm strokes again.

I enjoyed spinning on my back while doing arm strokes because I already knew how to do it.

Traffic Light Topics

I thought of some ideas to use in a persuasive speech and colour coded them.

First I watched 2 videos that said that to persuade you need to brainstorm and plan ideas. When you brainstorm you need to come up with some ideas of what you want to persuade. planning is when you pick your topic and write what you want to say when you are persuading.

Next I brainstormed some ideas that I could use to persuade someone under the categories I chose. The three categories I chose were personal, sports team , and world. I brainstormed 13 ideas.

Last I colour coded all of my ideas into the colours red, yellow, and green. Red means stop, don't proceed, yellow means slow down, and green means proceed. The colour I used the most was green.

I enjoyed colour coding all of my ideas that I brainstormed.

Water Safety

LS1 and I went for a water safety lesson.

First our instructor taught us how to get into a pool safely. To get into a pool safely you need to put your hands on the side, turn around, and slowly lower your body into the pool. After we got into the pool we waited for our next instruction.

Next our instructor taught us how to do back scull. To do a back scull you need to lay on your back, push the water away as you move, and keep your feet above the water. You can use back scull when you are floating down the river so you don't hit your face on a rock.

To finish up our instructor taught us how to do front scull. When you do front scull you need to move your hands in and out, then you need to keep your hands in front of you so that you can move your hands in front of you so you don't hit anything, and keep your head above the water. You can also use front scull in a river so that you don't hit your face, but instead your hands, or arms.

I learned a lot about sculling and what to do if I'm stuck in a river. I think next time I should try to keep my feet above the water when I'm sculling.

Addition And Subtraction

Addition and subtraction can be used using two stratigies: counting on/back and rounding and compensating.

Counting on is adding on using fingers, when the number is under ten. Counting back is subtraction using fingers, when the number is under ten.

Rounding and compensating is rounding the added or subtracted number to the nearest tidy number, then compensating for the rounding. Compensating is done by splitting the new number into the old number and the left over.

Counting on/back and rounding and compensating are easy stratigies are easy to use for addition and subtraction, when the numbers get too big to be solved with basic facts.

Party Popper Prototype

My group, Butter Cup created a party pooper prototype for our company.

First we tested all of the different materials there were. We had to write down each result and see if it failed or not. We liked most of the filling because it went high and made a big explosion.

Next we made a list of all the materials we wanted to use to make our prototype. We highlighted all of the materials we wanted to use for our party popper in yellow. When we all decided on the materials we thought of different unique designs for the cup.

To finish up We gathered all the material we needed to create our party popper prototype. On our list we had things that weren't in the bunch of material so we created it ourself. We all decided to keep the current design of the prototype we made.

We enjoyed creating the party popper prototype because we got to use our imagination and test lots of different things. We would have liked to test different material but there wasn't enough material to create two party poppers. We could try to make the weight heavier and try to find a good length so that the filling explodes better.

Explanation Starter

I wrote three different explanation starters in the three different stratigies, Basic fact, Question Hook and Explain Emotionaly.

Basic fact is just telling the reader what the text is about.

Paint!

Paint is made from pigment, resin and solvent all mixed together to become one.

The next way to write an explanation starter is a question hook. A question hook pulls in the reader and makes them think Hmmm? "I didn't know that."

Paint, But How is it made?

Did you know that paint has been used by humans for over 40,000 years? Paint consists of pigment, resin and solvent mixed together to become a colourful thick substance.

The last way to write a explanation starter is explain emotionaly. Explanation emotionaly is when you use fun words or something that we wouldn't have without...

A Colourful World

If we didn’t have colourful paint then the world would be boring and dull. Paint is  created from pigment, resin and solvent mixed to create the colourful goodness we have to make art POP!

Skimming And Scanning

We used skimming and scanning to help us find information.

First we skimmed for the six keywords. Skimming is acting the an airplane and reading along the book.

Then we scanned for 4 facts in chronological order. Scanning is like a helicopter and stop to look at that specific paragraph or information that you need.

I enjoyed this activity because using skimming, scanning and chronology helps my work easier.

Maori Alphabet

We learnt the maori alphabet and translated people's names from maori to english.

First names we learnt are Irihapeti, Hakopa, Kararaina, Tarati which are Elizabeth, Jacob, Caroline and Dorothy.

Next we had to choose three names in maori and give them last names like colours of other names. Example: Hariata(Hariott) Kakariki(green), Anahera(Angela) Ma(White) and Hakopa(Jacob) Parauri(brown.)

Lastly we wrote our names in maori, my name is Keira but in maori is Keirā.

I thought this activity was easy because some of the names sound like the maori word for it.

Frisbee Skills

I learnt how to balance using different skills in Frisbee.

The first thing we learnt was throwing the Frisbee at our partner from our hip and straight so they could catch it.

The next thing we learnt was running and catching the Frisbee facing the direction said by Mr.Ogilve.

Then we learnt to throw the Frisbee, run and catch it and try to throw it at a target.

Lastly we used all the skills we learnt during a game called Ultimate Frisbee, it was non bib vs bibs. Not bibs won.

I enjoyed learning these balancing skills using a Frisbee. I also enjoyed playing a game of Ultimate Frisbee at the end.

Balance

I learned about differant ways to balance using a tennis ball and racket.

First I bounced the ball on the tennis racket while balancing. I found this activity hard because I kept moving and the ball rolled away.

Next my partner threw the ball and I had to hit it back to then in a balanced position. I found this activity hard because when I tried to hit the ball I hit it too hard and lost my balance.

Lastly I ran, stopped to get my balance, and hit the ball back over the net. I found this activity hard at first because at first I tried to run and hit the ball, but then I learned that I had to run, stop to get my balance, and then hit the ball.

I found these activities hard because I kept on moving and I lost my balance.

Table Mat

I created a table mat on a book called New Zealand Film-makers specificly about Peter Jackson and used skimming and scaning to help me.

Skimming is when skip to find keywords. Scanning is when you read the text quickly and stop to read important information. Example: When you skim its like your an plane because when you skim you just read through the text without stoping. But an example of scanning your like a helicopter because helecopter can stop and hover while planes can't.

I found facts like In 1993 he made a film called Heavenly Creatures about an an usual murded that took place in the 1950’s, and Peter Jackson is one of the most famous film makers in the world.

Then I found some keywords and defined them like film and effects. Effects are things like sparkles or filters, film means to direct or make a movie.

I thought that Peter Jackson was interesting to learn about and some of the films he created and directed.

Prepresitions

I learnt how to say prepositions.

First, I learnt prepositions. "Kei runga ki te kutikuti," which means "above the scissors".

Then, I learnt maui and matou. Maui means (left) and matou means (right)

Lastly we learnt how to say Roto (in) and Waho (out)
Next time, I need to practice my maui and matou because I go the wrong direction.

Balance

We rotated between different sports equipment like soccer balls, tennis racket and ball, and a volleyball to see how well we could balance doing them.

The first set of equipment was soccer balls. With the soccer ball we kicked the ball with our knee on one leg. I thought this activity was the hardest for me because I have small legs and it hurt when it bounced on my leg.

The next set of equipent was a tennis racket and ball. With the tenis racket and ball we tried to hit the ball while our partner threw it at us to hit. I thought this activity was pretty tricky because when you had to hit the ball you had to swing your body to hit the ball.

The next set of equipment was a hockey stick and a hard ball. We tried to hit the hokey stick on one leg without using the hokey stick to balance on. I thought this activity was hard because you couldn't use the hockey stick to help you balance.

The next set of equipment we used was a egg and spoon. With the egg and spoon we tried to balance on one leg while trying to lower the egg and using power to bring it back up. I thought that this activity was hard because when I tried to bring the egg and spoon back up quickly I lost my balance.

The last set of equipment we used was a volleyball. With the volleyball we either tried to set or dig the ball. I thought that this activity was easy because I practice for the interschool volleyball tournement with mr. Ogilve.

I found all of these acivites harder than the ones last week because we had to move more than the ones last week.

Reciprocal Reading

We used Reciprocal Reading to read two PDFs Where We Lived and What we invested.

First we decided who the leader would be. The leader is the person who assigns the roles to the group and introduces the text.

Next we decided who the predictor would be. The predictor scans the section of text that you are about to read and predictits what the next page will be about.

We then decided who the clarifier would be. The the clarifier identifies tricky words, pharses, or ideas and shares them with the group.

We decided who the questioner would be. The questioner asks questions about the text and encourages group members to elaborate on their answers and give evidence.

Lastly we decided who the summeriser would be. The summeriser thinks of the main ideas in the section we've just read.

I enjoyed being the leader because I got to introduce the new text and I believe I allocated roles to my group members well. We worked well as a team.

Reciprocal Reading

I learnt how to use Reciprocal Reading and keywords on 2 texts called What We Ate and What We Lost.

The first text is What We Ate.The six roles are leader, predictor, clarifier, questioner and summariser. The PDF is about what soldiers ate during the war. They ate: bully beef, jam, canned fruit and vegetables, lack of vitamin c, hard biscuits and water.

The most helpful role was the clarifier role because they identified tricky and unknown words that we don't understand through out the text.

We did reciprocal reading on a PDF called what we ate.

Simple Machines

Did you know that the pulley, wheel and axel and screw they all move objects. A screw works by turning around, a wheel and axle is worked by an axle, a pulley is worked by pulling on a rope and a wheel and by working together the heavy object will lift.

Explanation

I learnt how to write a hook in an introduction.

First Mr Ogilvie showed us a video explaining what an introduction contains.

Next, we wrote an introduction and a hook about three different topics. Did you know that the largest firework display ever consisted of 810, 904 fireworks? A firework consists of gunpowder a fuse and potassium nitrate. When these three mechanisms come together they create a colorful explosion in the air.

Then we wrote an introduction about the life cycle of a butterfly. Did you know that there are almost 20,000 butterfly species? The mother butterfly lays eggs and they turn into caterpillars and makes a crysais and then turns into a butterfly. it takes 9-14 days for a caterpillar to turn into a butterfly.

Then we had to write a introduction about how chocolate is made. Did you know that chocolate is made by coca powder? First dried coca beacs will be roasted also heat blend food coloring sugar and flouring. When the chocolate is ade they will wrap it in paper.

Next time I write an introduction I should to try to add more information.

Reading a Calander

Step 1: read the day.

Step 2: read the number of the date.

Step 3: read the month.

Step 4: read the year.

Balance

Today I did some balancing using some sports equipment.

First I had to try and catch the frisbee while balancing on one leg without falling. I think that this was pretty hard to do but because the wind could blow the frisbee away so you had to move to the side to catch it.

For the next activity we had to dribble the basket ball and out partner had to try and catch it on one leg. I think that this activity was easy to do but when we had to dribble the ball from side to side it was hard to stay balanced.

For the next activity we had to throw a netball back and forth between eachother while standing on one leg. I thought that this activity was easy but then it got a little bit tricky when we had to try and catch is slightly from the side I started to wobble.

For the next activity we had to throw a rugby ball back and forth between eachother while balancing on one leg. I thought this activity was the hardest because when I was throwing from the side I lost alot of balance.

For the last activity we had to hit a small ball with a hockey stink without using the stick to help you ballance. I thought this activity was hard to because you couldnt 't use the hockey stick to help you ballance.

Maori Under and Over

We learnt how to say over (runga) and under (raro) in maori.

First we learnt a sentence to say if something is runga (over) or raro (under). Kei ... i te pukapuka.

Next we learnt how to ask where something is. Kei hea te pukapuka.

Lastly we learnt how to say if something is here wich is anei.

I liked learning how to say if something is over or under something.

Time Problems

Here are some time problems for you to solve.

Tile Twister

I revised ballancing and finding my tipping point.

First we did a warm up and did some basic fitness moves like squats star jumps and hight jumps.

Then I played a game called Tile Twister. Mr. Wong called out a body part and I tried to move that body part into a square on the floor.

Lastly we talked about controling you tipping point and how we did that.

I thought playing Tile Twister was tricky because you couldn't put the body part that was called out on a different colour.

Maori Sentence

I learnt how to tell someone to pass something in Te Reo.

First I revised what I learnt last week Tene(here) Tena(there) and Tera(over there).

Next I learnt a sentence thats tells someone to pass something to their left or right Hoatu te Aporo ki te taha maui or Tika (pass that apple to your left).

I thought it was interesting learning a question in Te Reo.

Tuesday, May 18, 2021

Cause And Effect

I wrote cause and effect sentences about the life cycle of a butterfly.

First I had to put an explanation of a butterfly's life cycle back togeather.

Next I had to write a cause and effect sentence of the butterflys eggs (stage 1.)

Then I had to write a cause and effect sentence about the catapillar (stage 2.)

Then I had to write a cause and effect sentence about the catapillars chrysalis (stage 3.)

Lastly I had to write about the chrysalis turning into a butterfly (stage 4.)

I think that it is interesting wen the catapillar makes a chrysalis and it turns into  a butterfly.

The Maori Pioneer Battaion

We did reciprocal reading to help us read the text The Maori Pioneer Batallion.

First we decided a leader so they can assign everyone their job. there were 5 jobs.

Before everyone read the page the predictor had to predict what they think will happen.

Then once everyone read the page the clarifier had to identify any tricky words. Then everyone put the words on a key word list.

Next the questioner had to ask questions about the test and try to get an answer.

Lastly the summariser had to summarise the text by making it shorter.

I think the predictor was the hardest because you don't know what the next page will be about.

Friday, May 14, 2021

Time Difference

I learnt how to tell time differences.

First I figured out the hour between the two times. Which was 4 hours.

Then I had to figure out the minutes between the two times. which was 35 minutes.

Lastly I found out the total. Wich was 4 hours and 35 minuets difference.

I think I need to work on subtrancing my minuets because it was hard for me.

Cause and Effect

Cause and effect can help with writing sentences within the mechinisims structure of an explanaion.

A cause is why something happens. A effect is what happens. For example A rainbow appears in the sky when sunlight passes through raindrops.

Casual language are words that link with cause and effect sentances. For example: because, when, in order to, therefore. For example: It was cold SO she turned the heater on.

Here is a mix and match activity you can do to practise and help you with cause and effect.
LI- What is cause and effect.

Keywords

All texts include a range of words to share information with the reader.

Keywords are words that unlock lots of information.

Kewords are used in a sentence to unlcok information in a specfic way. For example: Keyword - dodge- reminder - To avoid or not do something. Like not doing your chores.

LI- To expand vocabulary using keywords

Manners

Manners are used to show respect to others. They are formal and can be used anywhere.

You can use manners when someone holds the door open for you.

You can use your manners when you give someone something or they give you something.

Examples of manners are; Thank you, please, may I and your welcome while making eye contact.

Manner are used to respect people so they should also respect you.

Problem Solving

Today in groups we did problem solving about time.

First my group and I disscused the answers to the six questions.

Next we discussed how we worked out the answer.

Lastly we shared with Mr. Ogilvie about the answers and how we figured it out.

I thought this was hard because I didn't know which hand was the minute hand and wich hand was the hour hand.

Simple Machines

These are simple machines that we found in the school.

Wedge, wheel and axle, lever, inclined plane, screw, and pully.

Wednesday, May 12, 2021

Prepositions

 I learnt three preprositions.

The first Preprosition I learnt was tenei. tenei means here.

The second preprosition I learnt was tena. tena means there.

The last preprosition I learnt was tera. tera means over there.

I think preprositions are easy to learn and can help you tell posotions.

Balance

My group did an activity on balancing in our enviroment and took some photos of showing it.

First one of my partners balanced on 1 leg on top of a small ledge.

Next my partners tried to balance on another person without having as much contact with eachother as possible.

Then me and my partner huddled on the floor and helped another person balance on top of us.

Finaly I helped my partner balance using the playground equipment.

I enjoyed doing this activity because I got to try and balance on many different things. I want to try and balance on more challenging things.

Friday, May 7, 2021

Explination

I learnt how to write an explination report and the struture.

First I learnt what an explination is. An explanation is to understand a process.

Then I learnt the structure of an explanation report. the structure of a explanation is TIMES.

I think that explanations are quite tricky to write and to remember the structure.

Thursday, May 6, 2021

Maori Questions

I learnt two questions and how to say them is Te Reo.

The first question I learnt was Kua Mutu meaning finished.

The second question I learnt was Kua Marama meaning do you understand. Or Marama meaning understand.

I liked learning these questions because I could use them anywhere.

Simple Machines

Simple machines are tools people made a long time ago to make moving objects easier to do.

These are the six simple machines:

1. Inclined Plane

2. Wedge

3. Screw

4.Wheel and Axle

5. Lever

6. Pulley

Balance

I learnt about balance and how to balance on different things and balancing skills.

First Mr Ogilvie taught us about what balancing means and is about. It is about finding your tipping point.

Next two people had to try and cross the balance beam with out touching the ground.

Then we had to get into groups of three and chose one person to try and balance on the soccer ball. I balanced on the soccer ball for 20 seconds.

I think balancing on the beam was hard because two people at a time both had to go and it was hard to get around eachother.

Telling Time

I completed an activity about analog and digital time.

First I looked at the hour hand and looked at how many hours hae gone past, wich was 8.

Then I looked at the minute hand and looked at how many minuets had gone past, wich was 12.

Then I put them together and made twelve past eight (8:12).

I liked doing this activity because it helped me tell time.

Team Work

Teamwork is a term to describe a group of people working together to achieve a goal.

Teamwork consists of three main mechanisims. Communicaton is talking to or planning somthing out. When people in a dodgeball team communicate they tell each other when a ball is coming their way.

Cooperation is being a good team member while working together. People in a dodgeball team cooperate by listening and following a plan to be successful.

Collaboration is working together to be successful or finish something. An example of collabration is when players in a dodgeball team collabrate and work together in a game to win.

( This video shows the mechanism of comunication )

( This video shows the mechanism of collabration )

( This video shows the mechanism of cooperation )

To be successful as a team all there mechenisims need to be implemented throughout the activity.

SSR Selfiee

I read the whole book of Insects and creepy crawlies by Jinny Johnson.

This story is tells you lots of interesting facts about bugs and insects. I choose this book because I like to learn about bugs and insects..

I learnt interisting facts like, A male Rhinoceros beetle uses its horn to attake other males, and dung beetles roll animal poop into balls so the female can lay her eggs.

Basic Facts

I completed basic facts boxes up to 20. While dong the speed demon challenge you need to recall your basic facts.

I got 100/100 correct and my time was 6m 47s. I like doing speed domon challanges because It helps me recall my basic facts.

next time I will try to get faster at my basic facts up to 20. Then I will challenge myself and do my basic facts up to 100.

Making Connections

Making connections is a reading strategy that involves text to text, text to self, and text to world. These help you make connections.

Text to self is comparing a character or text to yourself.  An example of text to self is the highway rat steals food from the villagers because he can't go get his own, and I stole my dads food because he stole my food.

Text to text is comparing a text to another text. An example of text to text is when the duck tricked the rat so that she wouldn't get eaten and in the story little red riding hood the wolf pretended to be the grandma so that he could eat little red riding hood.

Text to world is comparing a text or character to someting that happens around the world. An example of text to world is The horse lets the rat ride him because they think they are partners, you can also see dance partners at ballet lessons.

Making connections are an important way to understand a meaning or a similarity. Connecting texts to other things or people can help you understand similairities.

Duffy asembly

Marc Duffy is a Duffy role model who shares his story about his rough past and then he turned his life around.

When Marc was in school he had trouble reading from left to right so all of the other kids started to bully him for not knowing how to read correctly. largest bunnings manager.

Then when Marc was asked to leave high school after six months, he got involved with the wrong crown and was sentenced to jail for four years.

In jail there was a teacher who taught Marc how to read and then he got his diploma and school certificate, so then he went to university to become a counseller.

He learnt the trade of a builder, made his own buisiness, then he got a job at Bunnings got married and now he manages the largest Bunnings store in New Zealand located in Hamilton.

Marc is a good Duffy role model and inspirator. He said that if you take the t off can't, it makes can.

Multiplication

Multiplication is a fast way to add the same number many times. The three, four, and six times tables are examples of multiplication.

The three times tables are multiplying three by a number of groups.

The four times tables are multiplying four by a nuber of groups.

The six times tables are multiplying by a number of groups.

The times tables are an easy way to remember basic multiplication equations. The next times table to learn are the seven, eight, and nine times tables.

Private Vs Public

Character Trait

A character trait is when adjectives are used to describe a character's behavior or adittude.

The Horse is kind for not stepping on the ant to take their leaf.

Multiplication

Multiplication is a fast way of adding the same number many times. the two, five, and ten times tables are examples of multiplication.

The Two times tables are multiplying Two by a number of groups.

The Five times tables are multiplying Five by a number of groups.

The Ten times tables are multiplying Ten by a number of groups.

The times tables are an easy way to remember basic multiplication equations. The next times tables to learn are the Three, Four, and Six times tables.

Kapa Haka And Waltz

For inquiry I had to compare 2 different dances from different cultures.

First I had to pick 2 different dances to compare. I chose Kapa Haka and the Waltz.

Then I had to write down all of the similarities that the dances had. The similarities are it is performed by men and woman, they are both traditional, they wear formal clothing, and it is mostly performed at parties.

Then I had to fin out some differences about the two dances. The differences about Kapa Haka to the waltz is that in Kapa Haka the woman wear flax puipui skirts, they use Poi, they wear feathers in their hair, it is used to identify Maori culture and the woman do wiri.

I learnt that in Kapa Haka the skirts they wear are called Flax Puipui skirts, and in the Waltz they dance with partners.

Fact Or Opinion

I Inferred facts and opinions about the horse from the story The Highway Rat. Facts are true things and opinions are things you think about the character based on the fact.

First I had to listen to the story and the movie to get some facts about the horse or the duck. I chose the horse.

Then, I evaluated some of the facts about the horse from the story. Then I wrote some opinions about the Horse based on the fact.

Then once I finished my facts and opinions I had to write some adjectives to describe the character during that time period of the story. The adjectives supposed to describe the traits of the character and not their appearance.

I need to work more on my adjectives that describe the characters traits because some of my adjectives describes the appearance of the character.

Multiplication

 I did a Multiplication task.

First we had to learn what multiplication is to do this. Multiplication is a fast way for adding the same numbers many times.

Then my group was given an unknown amount of counters. Then we had to put them into small groups of 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's of 5's.

Then I had to use multiplication to find out the unknown amount of counters. Once I used multiplication to find out the unknown amount, I put the counters into a rectangle.

I learnt that Multiplication is a fast way of adding the same numbers many times.
